On September 18, 2024, The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) started the orientation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) to the different TUPAD beneficiaries of Marcos, Ilocos Norte, held at the ground floor of the municipal hall building.
In the opening of the orientation, the municipal Sanggunian Bayan Members, Hon. Eugenio M. Navarro, Hon. Eduard T. Mendoza, and Hon. James C. Gacula showed up and shared their messages as they meet the TUPAD beneficiaries.
According to the TUPAD Coordinators from DOLE, Ms. Michie and Ms. Diana, the municipality of Marcos have a total of 98 TUPAD beneficiaries from various barangays. These beneficiaries are qualified as they were all disadvantaged workers aged 18 years old and above. Most of them are members of the Samahang Ilokano (SI) which are out-of-school youthβs, individuals belong in the middle-aged and few are senior citizens.
The orientation was needed before the beneficiaries officially start their 10 working days. The TUPAD programs aims to provide temporary employment and livelihood opportunities to marginalized workers affected by natural or man-made disasters.
